Recently, I was having a problem with my marriage.
Now before everyone jumps to conclusions. It wasn’t the typical marital problems. It wasn’t about money, or the kids, or any of the other issues you see listed on websites about marriage issues.
No. It was about the remote control. Actually, it was the 7 remotes on the living room table.
With the recent upgrade to the living room entertainment center, all the remotes changed in the living room. My spouse and even my kids were lost in the selection of inputs and devices that needed to be on to just watch TV. To quote my wife, “Why are there so many remotes, I just want to watch TV?”
Seeking counseling from my friends who have gone through issue, the unanimous answer to the problem came in the form of another remote. Read more…
Recent experience in buying a new HDTV has got me thinking about how the consumer has been fooled into buying overpriced HDMI cables from retail stores.
I my town, you cannot find a short HDMI cable for under $25, in stock, in a store. Most so-called name brand in-stock cables (Like Monster) start at $39.99. And, I hope you don’t need anything longer than 6ft. The price sky rockets.
Some cables cost more than the Blu-Ray player your connecting it to.
Here is a great article that explains how HDMI works.
“Why all HDMI cables are the same”
When looking for cables, check out these websites.

My used iPhone 3GS 16GB paid for the upgrade to a 4S 16GB.
I got an iPhone 3GS 16GB for work the day it was released in 2009. $199.99 with two year agreement.
Since then, I have kept it clean, protected in a case, and had a screen protector on it.
Recently I was allowed to go and upgrade to the 4S 16Gb at AT&T. Cost $199.99 with two year agreement. I bought a screen protector there, and a case at another store.

On January 1st, I bought a new TV from BestBuy.com.
A Panasonic TC-P50ST30 50″ Plasma on sale for $899.99 plus tax.
Now I know you are thinking, “save money by getting it locally and paying tax?” Well I thought that too. But, I couldn’t wait any longer. And, I knew I could get a better deal on numerous websites. Including Amazon.com for $899 + free shipping, but, would have to wait nearly 2 weeks to get it in.
Besides, I had a gift card that covered the tax and brought the final total down to around $875.
I ordered it on my iPhone while sitting at a restaurant friends having lunch. By the time the meal was brought to our table, I had received an email saying the order was ready for pickup. My friend and I, ( the one with a pickup truck), went and picked it up and took it home.
TV is awesome. Got it just in time to watch my favorite Football team get Tebow’d out of the playoffs. And it looked like I got a good deal because the price went back up to around $1100 right after buying it.
End of story? Nope… Read more…
